Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!

His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 118:1

We are blessed and grateful for the ability to have friends and family around in this holiday season. To have a place to safely and securely host a gathering for those we love and care about. But most of all we give thanks to The Lord for His goodness. Because unlike my fickle affections and praises that last for moments, His steadfast love endures forever! After all we love because He first loved us.

Thank you Jesus our King and Lord of all heaven and earth for the grace and mercy provide through your sacrifice for us, and for making a way to The Father who will loved us from creation, and this love will endure well past this fleeting moment.

Praise God

Golden grass gently blew in the wind as I watched a Red Shoulder Hawk grip it’s perch tighter- overlooking a forested valley. A strong wind crashed into the trees and the bird lifted its wings and effortlessly gained altitude and corkscrewed through the tree tops.

As the creature disappeared into the sunset, I couldn’t help but think of Isaiah’s words about waiting on the Holy Spirit. Do I patiently await for God’s strength or do I try to help myself navigate life’s trials?

Isaiah 40:31  But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. -KJV

Rooted

Psalm 51:6

“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”

Thought for today.-A tree cannot with stand the storms unless it’s rooted deep into the soil, so it is with Believers in Christ, if not rooted deep into God’s Word.

Waiting

Isaiah 30:18

So the lord must wait for you to come to him, so he can show you his love and compassion. For the lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.

Waiting on the Lord is not easy. We seek immediate answers and comfort. We are like spoiled children crying, ‘Daddy give us what we want!’; we make it all about us. It's not until we truly lay ourselves down and humbly come before the Father in all faith, allowing Him to be the only answer, that He can truly bless us. You see, it's never about us, but always about Him. Blessed are those who wait for His help, in His perfect timing.

Wow! I was just talking to my sisters(who just turned 86 and 82) about the subject of making the most of the time that God blesses us with every day of our lives! This is right in line with what we talked about. God’s timing is always right. He has us here for a reason and that is to make an impact on someone’s life each day by sharing God’s love and grace by the way we speak, think, and act! So, if you wake up tomorrow morning and still have breath in your lungs, you should first, thank the Lord for another opportunity to be a blessing to someone today then, DO something about it! Amen!

God’s Timing

Lamentations 3:25-26

25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,

to the one who seeks him;

26 it is good to wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord.

I waited on God for twenty years to use me for His glory—so that I could taste the fruits of His salvation! Every year I was frustrated over countless obstacles to my faith. However, by His grace and strength, I kept seeking and knocking. I finally realized that I was never waiting on God to use me; He was waiting on me to be ready to use. Perseverance grew me to where He needed me to be. God's timing is perfect!

Abide

We often rush to pray for a need or want, and then rush off to the next adventure or task. Most rarely stop to listen to God’s reply and don’t even know if the request is what God really wanted in the 1st place. Then, we get upset if God doesn’t answer our prayer in the way we want.

John 15:7 says: If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

The first part of that sentence is important. We have to abide in Him and allow his words to abide in us.

Father God, I ask You to come into my heart and stay. I ask You to place Your words in my heart and keep it there. Keep me focused on You and not on me and my wants. Thank You, Lord, for staying with me. In Jesus’ name, amen!
