Confess It

A great woman of faith, Joni Earekson Tada, was once asked what she looked forward to the most in Heaven. She said "losing my sin nature". I had never really thought about trying to find one thing I looked forward to the most but over the years this has also become the thing I look forward to the most - being made whole and complete without imperfection or blemish, losing my sin nature and winning the battle against it. Through Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross our sin is forgiven and wiped clean before the Father but we still will deal with the consequences of sin in our physical, emotional and mental worlds - which overflow into our spiritual walk. Even our most private sin separates us from God and the good things he wants for us.
1John 1:9 - But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Until we are made perfect we are given this passage and others to help us along the way. Jesus has done his work but we must do ours as well. No one likes to admit being wrong or owning fault but when we own up to it and confess it to Jesus it begins a cleansing process. The more we admit to it, the more we confess, the less power it has on us - this brings the freedom we all desire. Own up to it. Confess. Allow the Lord to do his cleansing and healing work in you.
