Matthew 2 records the wise men from eastern lands who followed a star to Jesus. 2:2 records this "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him".

They followed the star to where it stopped and 2:10-11 records this: When they saw the star, they were filled with great joy. They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then the opened up their treasure and gave him gifts....

These men traveled far, many hard days packing gifts as well as all traveling necessities. They had to be worn, tired and dirty from travel. They didn't arrive and take a nap, kick off shoes and relax when they arrived - they worshipped Jesus first and foremost. They knew who he was from studying Scripture. Jesus had not "saved" anyone, done any visible miracles, or proved himself in any way yet they believed and they worshipped.

We don't need "proof". Scripture tells us who Jesus is. Believe and worship and we will find the same "great joy"!

This year may we be more focused on the "who" we are celebrating than the what, where, when, why and how of it all. May you have a heart of continuous worship for Jesus Christ first and foremost  and a Merry Christmas!
